Virtual classes hold an important position in the learning process. But have you noticed that some children prefer offline classes online?

It might be because of the lack of a productive and a healthy environment. Various methods can boost student’s engagement in the virtual class. Certain principles are necessary to be followed while designing a virtual class for a learner. Have a full read of the blog to understand this much better.

Virtual classrooms these days are the new normal because of the current situation of a global pandemic. Though the offline mode of teaching will resume after some time when the situation improves, but the trend of virtual classes is going to continue from now. We believe that the virtual mode of teaching will continue even after the pandemic because of its enormous advantages.

The students or the learners have happily accepted this way of teaching as they find it much more comfortable and valuable. In fact, the educators also find it worthy as virtual learning has not only taught the students but also them to get used to the technology. Virtual learning has given new opportunities for students to learn new things in a much more creative way.

The virtual classroom is the future of learning. Effective strategies must be applied so that the virtual classroom becomes ideal for the students and increasing the engagement in the online class. Here, in this blog, we will discuss the top 5 principles which you can apply to boost engagement in your virtual classroom. So let us get started!

1. Design the content and organize it properly.

We must provide the students with rich content so that the students didn’t find it difficult or confusing to study from the study materials provided. Before starting with the class, make the student know the aim of the content, so that we mentally prepare them for what to expect next in class. The lessons should be thoroughly prepared so that all the doubts of the students are cleared at the same time.

For some students, virtual classrooms can be difficult, so to help such students provide extra help. Provide visual elements like videos, images, or graphics with the lesson so that the student may understand better. Simple assignments, effective models, quizzes, and projects make the learning process easy and interesting. Make sure the classroom is distraction-free so that the learner may not lose their concentration.

2. Motivational sessions.

There is a significant chance of morale down and occurrence of negative thoughts in the minds of the students during these tough days of the pandemic. Virtual classes can play a major role in inspiring the students by organizing motivational sessions for students who might have felt low. If the psychological condition of the student is not good, then ultimately he/she won’t be able to perform better in class.

Every student needs motivation in life to move ahead. It is just that some students might get it from their parents while others receive it from their teachers. For providing the best experience to the students, invite some renowned motivational speakers who can inspire students to perform better in life. Getting motivation in life from someone proves to be very helpful as one gets to learn from other’s mistakes. This is being one of the most powerful factors as the students get to learn a lot in a much more positive way.

3. Find the perfect space.

This one is quite important, which needs to be sorted first. In an offline mode of the classroom, it provided the students with a particular classroom, which was free from all the distractions and noises of all kinds. But in this case of a virtual classroom where a student has to find that perfect space where he/she can easily concentrate with no noise.

In this, the teacher can guide the student to search for that perfect space. Finding the perfect space should be based on the following factors like- it should be that part of the house which is far from the road to avoid the noise caused by the traffic, try to study in a room where the noise from the kitchen or the voices of the siblings does not disturb them. Their study table should be away from the window as it is the one capable of attaining the learner’s attention quick.

Apart from this, the students also need to be taught to differentiate their personal time and study time. We could easily do this in the offline mode of the classroom, but for the virtual classroom, it is difficult. Because both things are happening at the same place only. Educators need to make sure that the student devotes completely when studying online. Ask the students to prepare a timetable and schedule their personal things according to the timings of the class so that any of their personal events does not clash with the timings of the online class. We can give all this guidance at the beginning of the session of virtual classrooms via message or email.

4. Select the best management tool.

Before starting off with the virtual classes, you need to identify the best management tool on which we could hold the online classes. There are several management tools available that provide the best user experience like- Google classroom, Zoom, Google meet, Skype, and many more. Make sure that the tool you select is free of cost so that the learner might not find it a burden and choose to stay back. Many of the tools also offer collaboration to maximize the usage and increase the engagement in the virtual classes.

5. Clear communication and easy access.

Both of the two things are equally important for the better learning of the student. If the communication is not up to the mark and the students find it unclear, then he/she won’t be able to continue further. Second, the virtual classroom in every way should be easily accessible. So that the student at any place and at any point of time may join it smoothly.

Communication between the teacher and the student, especially in the virtual class, is very important. The student’s doubts and queries should be resolved as soon as possible. As sometimes the students need immediate help while completing the assignment so we should not delay them in answering any of the doubts. For this, the teacher can arrange extra classes in which we resolve all the query parts. The virtual classroom will only grow when fast services are provided to the students.

Conclusion

Virtual classrooms are the best platforms for students to study in all circumstances. By following these simple principles, you can easily boost the engagement of the virtual class.
