Even better is to hear this as an Audio Book. An amazing book that I have ever read truly made me change the way of my thinking. It is written by Malcolm Gladwell. After reading this book it will make you rethink how you understand the world around you.
Sometimes in our life, we make decisions instantly just in a “blink of an eye”, the book made me realize that wasting too much time on certain things is not worth it. Split decisions can sometimes prove to be powerful and effective.
I love the way, the book gave some amazing explanations and examples to predict things like whether a marriage will continue or not, which is based on a few minutes of observing a couple; the tennis coach who recognizes that when a player will double-fault before the racket even makes a contact with the ball; the artifacts specialists who could identify the fake piece at a glimpse.
The main aim of this book is to measure the pros and cons of the mind’s ability to unconsciously jump to conclusions based on what is seen in the current blink of an eye. The writer termed this act as “thin-slicing.” It will make you think about your gut instincts that determine whether they can be considered or not.
Trusting your guts has both a positive and a negative side. Blink says that trust your gut insights as not every time your experiences or hours of thinking can make the best decision. At the same, it also says that do not trust every time your guts insight as they can be partial or racists. Though it may not be. However, you can practice and have these types of unconscious reactions moderated.
All and all I really enjoyed reading this book, it gave me ways and lots of learning about things that have made me think and inspired me to learn more.
