Beyond the Last Blue Mountain: A Life of J.R.D. Tata

Beyond the Last Blue Mountain

Beyond the Last Blue Mountain: A Life of J.R.D. Tata is an assembled and well-woven reflection of JRD Tata’s lifestyle and the way he lived. Today, Tata, the most significant industrial house in India, is owned by JRD.

The book is divided into four parts, and every part dives deep into the life of JRD Tata and explores the never-known facts about him, starting from his family heritage to the rise of Tata Airlines.

JRD Tata, referred to as “Jeh” by his close-knitted family and friends, is a fascinating personality who leaves an imprint on the life of to-be young entrepreneurs.

What is the book about?

Beyond The Last Blue Mountain: A Life of J.R.D Tata is an extensive and elaborate biography of J.R.D Tata.

The book’s different sections walk us through various components of his life.

The first section starts with Jeh’s family background and heritage and the circumstances related to his birth. Furthermore, his journey from childhood to becoming the leading director of Tata Steel is also highlighted.

The next section is about Jeh’s contribution to the world in the Indian Civil Aviation Industry. J.R.D Tata is a renowned name which is known for building the industry right from scratch. All the stories have been put extremely well in the biography. The book outlines Jeh’s first adventure, which takes place from Karachi to Bombay, followed by the challenges he comes across. His journey explains how committed he was to punctuality and quality of service.

The third section of the book transitions toward his journey to becoming the chairman for almost 50 years. In addition, his relationship and interactions with the managers and directors are well-explained in the book. Jeh’s expansion in the industrial realm is another topic covered in the book.

The final section talks in detail about how he was a loving patriarch, a model citizen, and a leader who inspired most men.

Key Takeaways!

The book refines Jeh’s passionate behaviour, commitment, and dedication to the principles he held dear. The book is full of optimism. However, the book also covers how desperately Jeh wanted to improve the situation in India but failed to do so.

J.R.D Tata lived a fruitful life, and all the book’s different sections have wonderfully captured the essence of his outstanding personality.

Worth the Read?

The book captures the life of J.R.D Tata beautifully. R.M Lala, the author of the book, narrates the detailed outlines of Jeh’s journey from his childhood to entrepreneurship to philanthropy.

J.R.D Tata’s friendship with Indira Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru is also scoured in the book that most of us don’t know about. Overall, the book is worth the read, and so are other books from the same author about Tata, including The Creation of Wealth and Letters of Keynote.
